Psoriasis

Do you suffer from psoriasis? Have you tried everything, but nothing seems to work? Over the years, Dr. Eyal Vussuki has researched psoriasis and has successfully treated innumerable patients with varying degrees of severity.

Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory disease of the skin characterized by accelerated growth of skin cells causing inflamed patches. Some cases of psoriasis are so mild that people don't know they have it, but usually the disease is characterized by a rash or by reddened layers of skin covered by white plaque that fall off easily and cause itching and an unpleasant sensation.

Among the causes of psoriasis are genetic and environmental factors, including psychological stress, exposure to contaminants such as bacteria, use of various medications, spending time in certain geographical regions, unsuitable nutrition and others as well. Note that psoriasis is not a contagious disease and does not spread from one individual to another.

In addition to causing physical discomfort and even pain, psoriasis in most cases also has a negative impact on the patient's quality of life. The disease can interfere with movement or sleep, can prevent individuals from playing some sports, and can limit everyday functioning. Furthermore, the appearance of visible inflammations on the skin can negatively affect self-image and self-esteem, leading to embarrassment and even depression and causing the patient to avoid intimacy and other social interactions.

When Dr. Vussuki encountered patients suffering from severe psoriasis during his dermatology residency, he realized this was the area in which he wanted to specialize. He was deeply impressed by the emotional suffering and shame of these patients, and was motivated to devote his energies and talents to treating those afflicted by this disease.

Psoriasis Treatment – for Body and Soul

Since then, Dr. Vussuki has worked as a dermatologist in private practice and as a consultant for HMOs. He has devoted time and effort to researching psoriasis and treating it with the most comprehensive and advanced methods.

Treatments are based upon the condition of each patient, and include the application of various ointments, oral medications such as Neotigason and Methotrexate, phototherapy and immunobiological treatments by injection or intravenously. Dr. Vussuki pioneered in offering such treatments in Israel, among them Remicade (Infliximab), Enbrel (Etanercept), Humira (Adalimumab), Amevive (Alefacept) and Stelara (Ustekinumab). These treatments are given together with counseling about changes in lifestyle and nutritional habits. The patient's emotional state is taken into consideration, for in treating psoriasis emphasis must be placed on the connection between emotional stress and worsening of the disease.

Dr. Vussuki strives for professionalism in his work and makes every effort to provide comprehensive treatment. He believes that a doctor must remain on the cutting edge of knowledge, be involved in new research findings and new treatment options, but at the same time must not disregard the impact on the patient's emotional state and quality of life.
